Last-minute Gifts for Teachers
During the holiday season, parents are especially busy with so many tasks. It is easy for the last day of school before winter break to sneak up on you! But you still want to give your child’s teacher something special for the holidays. Here are some quick, last-minute gifts to make that teacher smile.
Gift Cards
Yes, I’m putting this seemingly less unique idea here at the top because gift cards are SO useful to teachers. You can get practical with a gift card from a local department store or grocery store. Or, encourage your child’s teacher to indulge a little with a gift card to a favorite restaurant or spa. Note: Sometimes teachers are not allowed to accept large gifts from student families. A small token may be all they can accept. But even a gift card to a nice coffee shop will be appreciated by a teacher!
Something Warm
Winter is the perfect season to share the warmth with some cozy gloves, a hat, or a scarf. This can be a practical gift for those early mornings. If your child helps pick it out, it becomes even more special.
A Good Book
Most teachers love a good book! If you know what genre your child’s teacher likes, that is even better. If you aren’t sure, you can also look for a nice journal or a fun cookbook.
Treats
This idea is to be used sparingly! Many teachers get overrun with chocolates at this time of the year. But, it is hard to resist sharing something sweet with a teacher. If possible, balance out treats with some fresh fruit, nuts, or other yummy snacks.
A Special Note from You or Your Child
Teaching is SUCH a difficult job. Teachers are juggling so much and often their jobs are very stressful. A positive note from you or your child has so much meaning. Often teachers save these special notes and cards to look at on tough days. If you aren’t sure what to say, just speak from the heart about the difference the teacher has made in your child’s life. Knowing that people notice and appreciate all of the hard work that goes into teaching is truly a gift that will warm any teacher’s heart.
