Free Summer Learning Awards

Summer Learning Award Certificate

Keep the Learning Going!

I love to encourage my kids to keep learning over the summer in a more fun and flexible way. In previous years, we’ve played math games, gone to the zoo, and participated in our local library’s summer reading program. (For more ideas on how to use your library to help with learning, take a look at our blog post entitled Homeschooling with the Help of Your Local Public Library).

This year I decided to do something new and developed these Summer Learning Awards that I am sharing with you for free! There are several versions for reading, along with awards for writing, art, and music.

How I Will Use Them

Here is how I am expecting to use these with my own kids this summer:

1) Read 5 books this summer. For each book, write the title in the star and color it in. When the fifth book is finished, she earns this award!

2) Make 10 works of art this summer. I will write in a type of art in each star, such as “self-portrait,” “landscape,” “draw a pet,” “watercolor,” and “clay.” Color a star for each piece of artwork complete this summer. When ten are complete, the award is given!

3) Encourage my daughter to practice her instrument every other day. This will fill in 30 stars over the summer.

4) Write 10 writing challenges (such as “poem,” “short story,” “letter to a friend”) and challenge my kids to complete them over the summer.

How You Could Use Them

I made several versions of the reading award so you can customize for your own use. If your child is just starting to read, you may fill in the stars with easy readers. If your child isn’t reading yet, maybe you can fill in picture books that you read to them or audiobooks they listened to over the summer.

There is also a blank award for you to fill in with whatever you like! Hopefully these make summer learning a little more fun and inspire your child to keep learning over the summer. Enjoy!
