End of the Year Reflection Ideas and Free Worksheet

Another school year is heading to a close. Can you believe we are at the end of the year already? It seems like this year went by especially quickly! Maybe it is a return to a more “normal” school life now that the pandemic is not at the forefront of our minds. Or maybe there has just been so much going on in the world that time seems to have sped up.

Whatever the reason, the time has come. It is the end of the school year! This is a great time to encourage your students to look back at how they have learned and grown since last fall. Here are some ideas for how to help them reflect:

  • Build a portfolio of work so kids can see how they have improved.

  • Create a slideshow of pictures showing the different projects and events of the school year.

  • Have kids journal about what they will remember from this year.

  • Ask your students to write letters to next year’s students in your grade. What do they have to look forward to? What should they be prepared for?

  • Have students interview each other about their best and worst moments of the school year.

  • Use a graphic organizer worksheet to give kids a place to write or draw their favorite parts of the year. Grab a free one (below) as part of our student self-assessment packet or have students draw clouds or thought bubbles on paper to include their memories of the school year.

Go to our email subscription page. You will be the first to hear about freebies, teaching tips, and more!

You will automatically be sent the free student self-assessment packet, which includes an end of the year reflection worksheet. Enjoy!
